Discord Steam verification: link & verify Steam accounts

Impersonation and scams thrive in trading and gaming Discord servers because anyone can copy a name and avatar. Linking each Discord member to their real Steam profile cuts that off at the root. Here is what verification does, how to set it up, and what it actually proves.

Why verify Steam in Discord

  • Stops impersonation of known traders, admins or members.
  • Ties trust checks and reports to a real, confirmed account — not just a Discord handle.
  • Unlocks per-member insights such as trust signals and ban history inside the server.

How SteamTexx verification works

A member starts verification in your server and signs in through the Steam and/or Discord login flow. SteamTexx links the two accounts, can assign a verified role, and enables member-level features. The link persists, so each member verifies only once.

A four-step flow: a member in your server runs the verify command, signs in via Steam, and gets linked with a verified role. It proves account control at link time, not real-world identity. How Discord–Steam verification worksMemberin your serverRuns /verifyin DiscordSigns invia Steam loginLinked+ verified roleProves account control at link time — not real-world identity.

Set it up as a server admin

  • Add the SteamTexx Discord bot to your server.
  • Configure the verification channel and the role granted on success.
  • Ask members to run the verify command once.

What verification proves — and what it does not

Verification confirms that the member controls that Steam account at link time. It is not a guarantee of real-world identity, and it cannot retroactively prove past behaviour — pair it with a trust check for that.

What it unlocks

In-channel trust checks, the Report Assistant, and server statistics — so moderators can act on real account data instead of screenshots.

Frequently asked questions

How do I link my Steam account to Discord?

In a server running the SteamTexx bot, start the verify command and sign in through the Steam login flow. SteamTexx links your Steam profile to your Discord account and assigns the verified role.

Is there a Discord bot to verify Steam accounts?

Yes. The SteamTexx Discord bot verifies members against their real Steam profile, assigns a verified role, and enables trust checks and reports inside the server.

Does Steam verification share my password with the bot?

No. Verification uses Steam’s own login flow; you authenticate with Steam directly and the bot only receives the resulting account link, never your password.

What does Discord–Steam verification actually prove?

It proves the member controls that Steam account at the time of linking. It is not proof of real-world identity, so combine it with a trust check for risk decisions.

Can a member unlink or re-verify later?

Yes. The link can be removed or redone; verification is a one-time step per account but not permanent if the member chooses to unlink.
