How much is my CS2 / Rust inventory worth? What determines skin value
“How much is my inventory worth?” has no single fixed answer — it is an estimate based on current market prices and the specific traits of each skin. Here is what actually drives the number.
What determines CS2 skin value
- Wear / float — the float value (0 = Factory New to 1 = Battle-Scarred) sets the condition; lower-wear copies of the same skin are usually worth more.
- Pattern index — for skins like Fades, Case Hardened or Doppler, the random pattern or phase can swing value massively.
- Rarity and type — covert skins, knives and gloves sit at the top.
- StatTrak and applied stickers, especially rare or holo stickers, can add value.
What determines Rust skin value
- Demand and limited drops — popular and discontinued skins climb; common ones stay cheap.
- Workshop popularity and item type drive desirability more than condition, because Rust has no float system.
Why it is only an estimate
The basis is Steam Market prices, which fluctuate, include roughly 15% fees and can be thin or missing for some items. A private inventory cannot be valued at all. Any total is a snapshot, not a guaranteed payout.
For the broader pricing method, read the inventory-value methodology guide and the Steam Community Market reference.
How to check your inventory value
Make sure the inventory is public, then price the items against the Steam Market or use a tool that aggregates current prices. The SteamTexx Inventory Value tool is built for this.
Frequently asked questions
How much is my CS2 inventory worth?
It is an estimate based on current Steam Market prices for each item, adjusted for traits like wear/float, pattern, rarity and StatTrak. The figure moves with the market and excludes items with no active market.
What is float in CS2 and does it affect value?
Float is the wear value from 0 (Factory New) to 1 (Battle-Scarred). Lower-wear copies of the same skin are generally worth more, and extreme floats can carry a premium.
Does StatTrak add value?
Usually yes. StatTrak versions typically sell for more than their non-StatTrak counterparts, depending on the skin and demand.
How is Rust skin value determined?
Mainly by demand and scarcity. Popular and discontinued skins are worth more. Rust has no float or wear system, so item type and desirability drive the price.
Are Steam Market prices the real value of my skins?
They are the best public reference, but actual sale value depends on demand, fees and timing. Treat any total as an estimate, not a guaranteed cash value.
