An engineering/survival game where you summit the tallest mountain in a vast, uncharted world. For the journey, carefully construct flying wooden bases with realistic structural failures. Brave thunderstorms, freezing temperatures, bears, wolves, and whatever else Mother Nature throws at you.
At the center of a vast, uncharted island lies the tallest mountain in the world. Your goal is to reach the summit.
Build with real engineering
To build a cabin or flying vessel in Because It's There, you first build its log frame. These structural frames are evaluated using a physics engine that rewards smart bracing, weight management, and load distribution.
Poorly designed craft may suffer partial or catastrophic structural failures in high winds or hard landings.
Navigation and survival
The route you take to the summit matters, as does your ability to pilot the craft you build. Managing weight, fuel, food, winds, and planning around major weather systems is essential for survival.
Realistic country-sized worlds
Each world can be up to 60,000 square kilometers, which is larger than Croatia or Costa Rica. The size of a world is customizable.
Worlds are procedurally generated using a variety of sophisticated geomorphology techniques that produce realistic mountains, river networks, climate and moisture simulations, and unique weather patterns. Each new map has varied, idiosyncratic landscapes and biomes, and there is no limit on how many maps can be generated.
Vibrant, deadly ecosystems
Ecosystems vary depending on local conditions, and dozens of plant species, birds, fish, and mammals of many shapes and sizes can be found in different biomes.
Predators like grizzly bears, mountain lions, and wolves have not developed a fear of humans and present a serious danger for most of the journey.
