A strange girl, alone in a thick fog, floats in the water after a heavy storm...
She doesn't seem to speak my language... and, even though helping someone into a boat is a universal concept, when I offer her my hand, she looks at me as though she doesn't know what to make of me.
Her skin and hair feel off to the touch, and she's a strange color...
She doesn't seem quite human, and when I bring her into my boat, she bites me... assuming that I'm food.
... She seems to have a numbing venom, when she bites me...
But when I look into her eyes and she looks into mine, I know she's a person with a soul.
There's a tenderness, there... and despite the language barrier, I know part of her sees me and understands me.
Showing her a little kindness, she understands that I'm far from food.
And, after I lose consciousness... she doesn't eat me.
In fact... she stays in the boat and waits for me to wake up, sad about what happened.
